About Us

Our Story

Zamuri was born on 14th September 2020 when our founder, Dr Nakiyingi Elizabeth Kiyingi, realized that too many people of African descent grow up with short, damaged hair, believing their hair can never grow long or healthy.

Her research into the subject proved fruitful; science showed that indeed our hair can grow with the right tools & support: the problem was never our hair. It was the lack of clarity and education. Zamuri exists to change that narrative.

Our Philosophy

Healthy hair is not achieved by using everything — it’s built through simplicity, patience, and consistency.

Our approach combines thoughtful formulation with practical education, so hair care feels less confusing and more empowering.

  • Science- Informed Products

Formulated for kinky African hair using carefully selected ingredients that prioritise scalp health, moisture retention, and long-term hair health.

  • Education & Hair Reset

We teach you how to understand your hair, choose products wisely, and stop product hopping through guided programs like the Zamuri 14-Day Hair Reset.

  • Hair Clinic & Consultations

Our hair clinic offers structured consultations to assess scalp and hair conditions and provide conservative, evidence-based treatment for concerns such as alopecia and other scalp disorders.

FAQs

Is Zamuri suitable for type 4 hair?

Yes. Zamuri was created specifically for African hair, especially type 4 hair. Our formulations and education focus on moisture balance, gentle cleansing, and long-term hair health rather than quick fixes.

Will Zamuri products make my hair grow faster?

Zamuri products do not promise instant hair growth- no product can! Instead, they support a healthy scalp and hair environment, which is essential for growth & length retention. Hair growth is gradual and depends on your consistency and routine.

Why doesn’t the Zamuri shampoo foam a lot?

Our shampoo is intentionally low-foaming. It uses gentle, plant-based cleansers that clean the scalp without stripping natural oils. Less foam does not mean less cleansing — it means less dryness and better moisture retention.

Do I need to use all Zamuri products to see results?

No. You do not need to use every product. Zamuri products work best when chosen intentionally and used consistently. Many clients start with one or two products and build from there as they better understand their hair needs.

How long should I try a product before deciding if it works?

We recommend using a new product consistently for at least 3–4 weeks. This allows enough time to assess how your hair responds. Switching products too quickly makes it difficult to know what is actually helping or hindering progress.

Are Zamuri products suitable for children or sensitive scalps?

All Zamuri products are designed to be gentle and suitable for sensitive scalps. However, we always recommend patch testing first and using products as directed. For children, routines should be simple and minimal. Check product label for age restrictions.

Why are Zamuri products priced higher than some brands?

Zamuri prioritises formulation quality, ingredient sourcing, and small-batch production. Many of our key ingredients are carefully sourced and imported to maintain product integrity. We focus on effectiveness and education rather than mass production.

What if I’m not sure which products to start with?

If you’re unsure, we recommend starting with products that address your main concern, such as dryness or scalp comfort.
